Not What We Can Do

"And you, who once were alienated and the enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless and above reproach in His sight."
Colossians 1:21-22

We were enemies of Christ in our minds because of our wicked works.  Because of our wicked works we were put far away from God, not being able to come near Him.  But through the death of Christ Jesus we can come boldly before the throne of grace; we are now at peace with God where once we were at war.  But how can a Christian with a spirit that has been made alive in Christ now combat the dead flesh still clinging to Him? We struggle everyday; a battle: the old nature versus the new.
The key is in Romans 12 and Ephesians 6.  Just as we are enemies in our minds, so Paul calls us in Romans 12 to renew our minds, to transform them through the power of the Word.  Ephesians 6 tells us to be strong in the power of the Lord's might.  Not by strength or power, but by the Spirit of the Lord.  We are not to do things in our strength; in our spirit, but we are to acknowledge that we are weak and that He is strong and only through Him can we overcome.
Of course there are times we fail.  But Proverbs tells us that the righteous man falls seven times, but yet he gets back up!  Continually, though he falls, he gets up, and turns away from his sin!  And that is the most wonderful thing about these verses from Colossians.   Even though we are weak and frail, even though we fall, the Father still sees us as blameless.  But not because of anything we can do, but because Jesus Christ did it through the power of His death upon the cross!  All we need to do is repent and go back to Him and away from our wicked minds.
Amen!

What can wash away my sin?
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

Does The End Justify The Means ?

Click on title or on "read article" (below)of this post for Jakes article dealing with the XXX Church.

Editors Note: This post was made by our good friend Jacob LaJoy who went to be with the Lord in April of 2011.  We posted this in memory of him and his love for Jesus Christ.  Jacob loved to tell others about Jesus and His Gospel, and we hope that though he has gone on to things far more glorious, that this post will do just that.  We miss you and love you Jake.

All Souls Day: A Christian Practice?

"19 And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? 20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.21 They will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward. 22 Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness." - Isaiah 8:19-22 NKJV . . .
